Using a .177 pistol for hunting grouse?
Would you consider using a sub 500 fps .177 air pistol (not CO2) for shooting Ruffed Grouse as a companion "gun" while big game hunting? I know the high powered PCP's are your first choice but for grouse inside 15 or 20 yards would you consider the .177 to be enough... especially head shots?rnrnThank you,rnChrisrn

I tend to stay away from
guns putting out less than 10-12 fpe for hunting. However if you can hit a grouse in the head at close range with a sub 500 fps .177, I think it would probably kill it. Never shot grouse, but I have head shot feral roosters with this type of gun with acceptable results. I'd keep the range at 10-15 yards ...... and make sure it's legal whereever you arernCheers,rnJim
