Review this product

Things I liked: Everything about the rifle.
Things I would have changed: Nothing
What others should know: Entry on 5/20/08 stated that I had two 20 cal. rifles was incorrect. I have two 22 cal. rifles. Also Beeman Silver Bear pellets are my preferred pellets.

Things I liked: Excellent accuracy for pest control and target shooting. I like the trigger finger safety and the overall style and look of a centerfire hunting rifle.
Things I would have changed: Nothing. Never had a problen with it. I like everthing about it.
What others should know: I have two of the GS1000 rifles both in 20 caliber. I was so impressed with it's accuracy and the Beeman scope I now have one for work use and one for target shooting at home.

Things I liked: Like most Beeman products, the GS1000 is a beautiful looking rifle. I've owned my .22 GS1000 for about 4 years.
Things I would have changed: This rifle is made in Spain (stamped on breach block) and the quality is lacking. After shooting well over 1,000 pellets the accuracy never did increase (I clean and oil my gun on a regular basis). I also tried a wide variety of pellets and found that the Beeman FTS shot the best (average group was .57" c-to-c at 25 yards using Leapers 4-16x56 scope). The recoil from my gun broke the original Beeman scope within the first year. Also this .22 is rated at 750 FPS, but shoots much slower using standard size pellets (larger pellets are hopeless so stick with 11 to 13 grains if you want to hit anything). Larger pellets don't have time to clear the barrel before the recoil is transferred to the pellet causing it to shoot inconsistently. I can see where the faster .177 version of this rifle (rated at 950 FPS) would be more accurate. Also, this gun is very temperamental, and you have to hold it just the right way (don't breath) if you want to get any kind of grouping.
What others should know: This rifle normally sells for $259, however Pyramyd Air is currently blowing them out for $229. However, for another $35 you can get the new Walther Falcon Hunter that shoots .22 pellets at 1000 FPS (check out the great reviews), or for only $163 you can buy the Mendoza RM-600 which shoots .22 at 950 FPS. From what I've been told, they are both accurate weapons. Personally, I am totally frustrated with my GS1000 and trashed it in favor of the RWS 350 Magnum that I just purchased from Pyramyd Air.
